MAKEUP PREVIEW
INFO

Let's get ready for a great preview appointment!

Do you have questions about what to expect?
Here's your guide to your upcoming appointment.

MAKEUP PREVIEW INFO

We also ask that you wait till the end of your appointment to make any phone calls or text pictures to friends and family-- we'd rather use that time to show you more options, and then you can share all images with your friends after the appointment.

Now, if you’d really like for someone to stay with you during your preview appointment, you are able to exclusively reserve use of our studio for your appointment.  While we are currently limiting the number of people to 2 appointments at a time in the studio, an exclusive reservation is a great option even if you just want a more private appointment in general.  Exclusive use of the NVBA studio is a separate $95 per hour fee, includes a max of 3 guests, and is charged in addition to your requested beauty services.  There is a 4 hour minimum for exclusive studio rentals,  and a combined hair and makeup preview appointment typically lasts for up to 3 hours.  If requesting an exclusive studio reservation, please let us know what date/time frame would work best for your needs.

"HOW SHOULD I ARRIVE FOR THIS APPOINTMENT?"

Please arrive with a bare, clean face with no mascara on.  If any makeup needs to be removed, that reduces the time you and your artist will have to try out your ideas.  If you’re having any major skin issues, please let us know prior to your appointment in case we need to reschedule for a later date once your skin has recovered.

HOW TO PICK A GREAT REFERENCE PIC

For makeup, one of the things we love to see, is a pic from another party or event where you *loved* how you looked.  We don’t have to stick with that, but it’s a great starting point to know more about your comfort level.

Also, look for makeup inspiration pics of people with similar faces, eye shapes, or characteristics as you.  If all your pics include super tan faces with fuller coverage foundation, but you want to go sheer and keep your freckles, then it’s harder to know what it is specifically about that makeup look that you want to try.  You can also specify what part of a reference image you’re most excited to try, like “I really love the eye makeup in this pic.”

If you have any online reference pictures or Pinterest boards, also feel free to send us a link when you can.

HOW TO REMOVE TEMPORARY INDIVIDUAL LASH CLUSTERS

For removing the individual lash clusters, please keep in mind that the lash glue is meant to last 3-5 days, and that the same things that take off waterproof mascara will take off these lashes.  To remove the lashes, you'll need an oil-based waterproof eye makeup remover or eye-friendly face oil. Here are two of our favorite waterproof mascara and temporary lash removers:
  • Lancôme BI-FACIL - Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover
  • Ardell LashFree Remover
You just massage the remover or oil gently right into the base of the lash to break down the glue.  The oil is what breaks down the lash glue-- not friction. There should be no tugging or pulling involved.  We recommend applying the waterproof makeup remover to tissue and holding it to saturate the lash from both top and bottom. You can also apply makeup remover to a q-tip and massage the q-tip into the base of your lashes.  This is the best method if you get a stubborn lash that needs more help coming off. This is definitely something we recommend doing in the evening or before bed, vs. before heading off to work. Think of it like removing fingernail polish, it is not an instant process.
Since we often use knotless flare lashes, they will come off as single hairs vs. the little bundle they were applied as.  Just a head's up so you know that you aren't actually losing your own lashes.

TOUCH-UP MAKEUP ITEMS FOR YOUR & YOUR BRIDAL PARTY

Keep in mind what lip color you may want to be photographed in for when it’s brighter during the earlier part of your day, vs. the lip color you would want once the dancing starts later that night.  We will have one Nika Vaughan lip color available for you to touch up with, so let us know which color option might work best to have on hand.

Please let us know if you would like for your bridal party to also have their own lip color or hair touch-up items for later in the evening too.  Just tell us what items you need, and the cost will be added to your invoice. We will then bring your bridal party’s gifts directly to your your wedding appointment.

Visit our online beauty shop to see our current gift and beauty items available.

SCHEDULING FUTURE PREVIEW SERVICES

Due to limited scheduling and availability, please note that each person's first preview appointment is offered at a reduced rate.  Each addition future preview services with the same artist are at the higher rate noted on your Preview Appointment Form. So please don’t be shy, if there’s something you’d like to try or change at your appointment, please do let us know.

Please let us know if ever you have any additional questions.
