HOW TO PICK A GREAT REFERENCE HAIR PICTURE
For hair, it's always good to find reference hairstyles where the hair is similar in texture, length, and even color to your own. If you need to add any extensions to create a look, please let us know in advance as much as possible, so that we can then allot the right amount of time and have the right materials for your appointment. If you have any online reference pictures or Pinterest boards also, feel free to send us a link when you can.
"HOW SHOULD I ARRIVE FOR THIS APPOINTMENT?"
We ask that you arrive with fairly clean, dry hair. If you’re hair is damp, that will significantly affect your appointment. If you’re naturally curly, but want a smoother texture for your hair style, you’ll want to either request an add-on blow out, or arrive with your hair already straightened.
VARIETY vs. LONGEVITY
Because we’d ideally like to show you some different style options, our hair stylists usually take it easy on the more intense holding products and techniques during a preview appointment. So the hairstyle that you leave this appointment with will not hold as long as on the day of the wedding-- the goal for this appointment is for you to see how the style looks vs. how long it will last throughout the day. We'll definitely also check in after the appointment to see if there's anything you'd like to tweak, but it's good to know that you might have a few more fly-aways after that preview appointment than you will at the wedding. We'll also take a ton of pictures from different angles for you to then compare later.
ADDING A BLOW OUT TO YOUR SERVICE
If you were hoping for a blow out before your updo hair style, please let us know in advance so we can allot the additional time needed for any added services. This also applies to those with naturally curly, long, or thick hair who are hoping to have a smoother or sleeker texture for their hair style overall. There is an additional cost for adding blow outs to a hair service. An add-on blow out service starts at $75 for a 30 min service.
TOUCH-UP HAIR ITEMS FOR YOU & YOUR WEDDING PARTY
On your wedding day, we can provide a deluxe travel size touch-up kit that includes a hair spray for you for any needed touch ups. Please let us know if you would like for your bridal party to also have their own touch-up kits for later in the evening too. Any purchased touch-up kits will be mailed to you prior to the wedding date.
BRINGING A GUEST & EXCLUSIVE APPOINTMENTS
Some brides come to the preview alone, some bring a friend-- either option is welcome and totally up to you. Due to demand and space limitation of our studio, we only permit one guest per preview service.
We also ask that you wait till the end of your appointment to make any phone calls or text pictures to friends and family-- we'd rather use that time to show you more options, and then you can send all images to your friends after the appointment.
Now, if you’d like to have more than one guest with you at your appointment, or you even just want a more private private appointment to avoid the bustle of different brides and artists, you can also rent the studio for exclusive use at an hourly rate $95 per hour. There is a 4 hour minimum for exclusive studio rentals.

MORE IS MORE: CLIP IN HUMAN HAIR EXTENSIONS
Who doesn’t love full, voluminous hair? We offer clip-in hair extensions in a wide range of colors and lengths, and they are available for purchase from our studio in the Plant Salon Armitage location. If you’re curious about adding some clip-in extensions for added volume or length, definitely let your stylist know, and they can show you the difference for your wedding hair style. Based on your desired hair color and length, your hair extensions my need additional preparations such as hair coloring or trimming. Your stylist will let you know what additional preparations may be needed in order to have your hair extensions ready for your wedding.
HAIR EXTENSIONS LENGTH RECOMMENDATIONS
When considering hair extensions, you should seek out human hair, clip-in extensions in the following lengths:
We over extensions in 14" and 16", and recommend having them cut as needed for your desired style.
- 10-12” length for added volume only at crown of head. This is particularly for those with finer hair.
- 12-14" length for updo hairstyles
- 14-16" for hair down formal hairstyles. This is the most popular length.
- 16-21” length if you’re seeking really long, waves or curls
We over extensions in 14" and 16", and recommend having them cut as needed for your desired style.
EXTRA CREDIT FOR THOSE WITH FINER/THINNER HAIR
You may want a set of extensions that comes with more narrow pieces, vs. the wider pieces that are geared more for adding length. You may also want to combine two sets of extensions to create the look of both added volume plus length your seeking. Feel free to start off with a single set for your appointment, and your hair stylist can help you decide if anything additional is needed to achieve the style your style you’re seeking.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR NEW HAIR EXTENSIONS
In order to prep your extensions to be styled, please shampoo and dry them prior to your appointment. It well make them more receptive to being styled. Based on your hair color and the general wedding hair style you're seeking, you may also need to have them cut and colored before your hair preview. Please let us know if you need help finding someone to cut/color them for you, as we have stylists who provide this service.
To store your new extensions, you should gently brush them out, and then place them back in their original packaging. You should treat them like your natural hair, and wash and condition them once they get a lot of styling products on them. Only store your extension once they are dry.

SCHEDULING FUTURE PREVIEW SERVICES
Due to limited scheduling and availability, please note that each person's first preview appointment is offered at a reduced rate. Each addition future preview services with the same artist are at the higher rate noted on your Preview Appointment Form. So please don’t be shy, if there’s something you’d like to try or change at your appointment, please do let us know.
